Job Search

I got a call today from a recruiter in the South Bay for procurement position doing risk management at a bank here in San Francisco. I was contacted by United Commercial Bank a while back to start working on their vendor management program, but it appears as if the FDIC had to clean house. Working in banking seems risky these days. Not working at all is even more risky. The recruiter called my rate and told me she loves my resume. Perhaps the hiring manager will agree.

I may start working at Cirque du Soleil in concessions when it comes to San Francisco, which should be fun. The recruiters told me that I will get two free tickets! I will get to say that I worked in the circus for the rest of my life. This should be interesting.

I haven't worked on my social marketing stuff because I have been busy tutoring statistics. Math is so time consuming. Working with students reminds me how much I hated the aspect of being a student where everything revolves around points. It becomes obsessive and penetrates your every thought. You walk around all the time trying to figure out how many points you can or can't afford to miss to make the grade or pass. Maybe it is a good metaphor for life.

Not Feeling Very Motivated

I am not feeling very motivated today. I started social media marketing, it is time consuming and I am not sure if it will pay off. However, I have a lot of free time. I should probably get back to the conventional job search.

The products that I am marketing are for online gambling, primarily poker sites because online gambling is the fastest growing industry on the web and the payoffs for referrals are very big and you get a percentage of the profits for the life of each customer. The problem is figuring out how to position yourself, such that you get tons of clicks and hopefully sign ups.

Mostly, I use twitter and facebook to market the sites I create. I have signed up as an affiliate with coupons.com, commission junction, and various poker sites. Maybe someone will click one day...

WAR ON 8

On election night, I was on my way back to the city on the bus and heard on the radio that Obama had won Ohio, which was for some reason or another very significant. I guess for a black man to win a state full of people where the gay people who seem to populate San Francisco run away from to is pretty significant. However, Proposition 8 passed.

That night, I was walking down Market Street and all of these people were still campaigning against Prop. 8, which I usually found very annoying because their efforts were poorly placed. You can't go to church to try to convince more people to believe in God--as you can't campaign against Prop. 8 on Market Street and expect to change anyone's opinion.

As a solution to the hatred and bigotry that has waged war on individual liberties, I think that this is one of the most productive websites that I have seen in long time: http://www.californiansagainsthate.com/dishonorRoll.html, it sheds light on who the oppressive assholes are. These people deserve to be noted for their generosity to judgement and hatred.

President Bush

I am not sure what to make of this footage of a man throwing his shoe at Bush.

This is hilarious. I don't think a president in history has had a shoe thrown at him.

I am wondering what happened to the man who made Bush duck down because the shoe was aimed at his head. AHAHAHA!!!

I would not want to be the president and have some man throw a shoe at me!
